(http://www.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de) invites applications from outstanding junior scholars for a three-year
Research Fellow Position
in connection with an interdisciplinary research project on "The Common Languages of Art and Science", organized by Lorraine Daston (MPIHS) and M. Norton Wise (UCLA), September 2001- August 2003. Proposals should focus on aspects of the interaction between art and science in historical context; especially sought after are proposals concentrating on the relationships between artistic/architectural and scientific/techical drawing, 18th-20th centuries. Applications from scholars of all nationalities and disciplines are welcome; the colloquium language is English.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. (awarded no later than 31 December 2000), and a strong publication record. The position is paid according to the German scale for wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter BAT IIa-O, which, depending on scholarly qualifications, corresponds approximately to the assistant/associate professor level.
