... may well be www.museum-webguide.co.uk when it comes to tact,
diplomacy and sheer lack of professionalism. Who are the authors?
What are their professional credentials? Who are they, or what right
have they, to judge the work of others? What do they hope to achieve
by publicly insulting others whose sole aim and purpose it to
entertain, inform, educate and otherwise please customers to the best
of their ability?
I would be the first to admit that there are a host of less than
perfect websites out there, and that some of them may well be museum
ones. One of them may even be ours! However this is not the way to
encourage better standards.
I take serious issue with a snide remarks about volunteers. Without
them we would not have half the website material that we do have. OK,
it may not be perfect. But better something that entertains and
educates in a less than perfect way than something that simply pokes
fun and insults for the sheer hell of it.
Perhaps if enough of the MCG '-ers take issue with this the
perpetrators of this insult may have the courage to put their heads
above the parapet, say who they are, and let US judge THEM, instead
of hiding behind the cosy anonymity and pious self-righteousness
which the web allows them.

Alasdair Joyce (Complete with typo's and a host of other
imperfections, professional and personal!)
