BUILDING AN ICT RESEARCH NETWORK
- Helping to Create Schools of the Future
Friday 15 June 2001, Barbican Conference Centre, London
This is a one day conference aimed at educational researchers, ICT
researchers, ICT advisors, LEAs, policy makers and ICT suppliers.
ICT can enhance learning. It has most impact when it is used effectively to
support good teaching in good schools.
Too few educational researchers are aware of findings regarding the
educational uses of ICT, and its potential in raising standards and
improving schools. Equally, too few researchers who focus on the
educational uses of ICT have integrated their findings back into these
mainstream debates. As part of its purpose of 'connecting the learning
society', Becta will host this one day conference dealing with these issues.
Chaired by Owen Lynch, Chief Executive of Becta and with keynote
presentations by Niel McLean of Becta and Professor David Reynolds, the
conference will begin to bring together the educational research community
with key decision makers, researchers and advisers from the ICT arena, in
order to:
- Generate a greater understanding of the potential of ICT in
education for those outside the ICT arena
- Stimulate discussion on how the ICT and non-ICT educational research
communities and draw on each others' approaches and findings.
- Provide a forum to explore how research-based policy can enable ICT
to play its part in creating 'schools of the future'.
Registration fee for the conference is £25.00 and a full conference
programme and booking form will be available towards the end of April. To
