We're using a product called InVisage here at the Tate. It's produced by a
company called i-Base www.iBase.com , who are based in Ilkley. We are using
it for our InSight project, which is a two year venture to image and subject
index the 50,000 or so works in our collection. Although we have it
configured to support our image/metadata capture and indexing workflow, it
also has a range of viewing and management facilities that enable users to
search, edit copyright details etc. We also have it set up to deliver new
image and text data to our intranet and website.
i-Base are a small, intelligent company who have produced a very flexible
product that can be adapted to a variety of needs, and linked to other
systems if need be. I am sure they would be happy to show you what their
product can do - and then you can match it against your needs. Give me a
call if you need more information.

Subject: Image management software
Anybody have any recommendations for image management hardware and software?
We desperately need to organise and manage digital images of our collection
and other items and I'm wondering what would be the best way to achieve
this. A dedicated server appeals to me, with some sort of database of images
and associated metadata. Preferably something with the capability to
automatically add a directory full of images to the database, plus any other
bells and whistles. A nice friendly front-end is essential so that all
interested staff can browse the image base and obtain / link to the required
images from it. All thoughts welcome!
