This course is essential for anyone who uses the Internet regularly and who
needs to increase their effective use of the medium. It reviews searching
techniques both with and without search engines and covers more specialised
areas such as mailing lists, newsgroups, intelligent search agents, finding
people and images and offers additional hints and tips for better and
quicker searching.

The course is continually updated to include the latest information, details
of new search engines and enhancements to existing ones together with
techniques for efficient searching and coverage of new resources.
Participants are given time for hands-on sessions and are encouraged to
fully participate during the day.

title: write and design www pages

At the end of the day participants will have gained a greater understanding
of design and will have created their own home page, including text (in a
variety of formats), graphics links and tables.

The course is designed for people with no experience of web authoring and no
prior experience is required. Participants will get most out of the day if
they have, however, spent some time using the internet and are familiar with
a Windows environment.

title: valuing companies for mergers and acquisitions
date: 23rd October 2001
fee: £275.00 + VAT (£323.13)
speaker: Sylvia James
Researching company information is a key skill underpinning any potential
merger or acquisition. This new course is for researchers and information
professionals who need to analyse the information gathered. This new course
will provide the detailed background for understanding valuations and how to
supply an excellent and value-added information service to support them.
There will be coverage of the most commonly used valuation methods including
the newest shareholder value techniques.

title: know Your value - value what you know:
developing a knowledge profile
date: 24-25th October 2001
fee: £795.00 + VAT (£934.13)
speaker: Mick Cope
An intensive two-day workshop for information professionals and others
involved in managing information and knowledge environments. It asks the
question - how much are you worth to your organisation? And it helps you
find the answer.

This event is designed to be highly interactive and participative.
Delegates will take part in open group discussions, practical exercises and
feedback sessions in order to understand how they manage their own personal
knowledge.

Although knowledge is often the most important asset in any company,
managers are often puzzled as to how to deal with something that cannot be
defined, let alone universally quantified. Much of the focus of knowledge
management has emphasised organisational or team-based aspects. There has
been less consideration about what happens at an individual level. This
workshop will aid understanding of your own motivations and approaches and
will support self management and development.
