The Institute of Information Scientists
The Institute of Information Scientists was founded in 1958 to promote high
standards in information science, and to raise the profile and status of
information scientists. It is an educational charity, registered under the
Charities Act of 1960. It has over 2000 members, and a number of special
interest groups. Its mission is to set, maintain, monitor and promote
standards of excellence in the science and management of information. It is
a sister organisation of the UK Library Association, and collaborates with
the BCS Information Retrieval Group.
The British Computer Society Information Retrieval Special Interest Group
The BCS Information Retrieval Group is a special interest group of the
35,000 member British Computer Society.
