I first heard this moral used in the Western 'Once Upon A Time in the West'
starring Henry Fonda (circa 1970) so it's old hat!!!

>I heard this cautionary tale over the weekend:
>
>A man walking through a wood in winter saw a small bird being stalked by a
>fox. He picked up the bird, which was almost frozen to death, and chased
>away the fox. While he was warming the bird in his hands, a deer ran past
>and poo-ed on the path. The man took a stick, made a small depression in
>the pile of warm poo, popped the bird into it and continued on his way. As
>he intended, the warmth thawed out the little bird which, its spirits
>revived, began to sing. This attracted the fox, which returned and ate it.

>Morals:
>1. It's not just your enemies who can drop you in the shit
>2. If you're up to your neck in poo, keep quiet about it
