A response to Jason Ovens message about clinical librarian services.
We have been offering such a service in Leicester since 1999 (first as a
pilot) and it has been well received by clinicians. The service is currently
being evaluated by ScHARR (School of Health & Related Research, Sheffield).
At present there are two of us supporting the staff at University Hospitals
of Leicester NHS Trust (3 sites) and we hope soon to have a third. We have
made contacts with other clinical librarians and will soon be posting
contacts details on our web site.
http://www.le.ac.uk/li/lgh/library/clinlib.htm You can find information
there about our service, tips on setting up a service plus a recent
bibliography. Any contributions to this site would be valued.
Either Jacqueline Verschuere (my colleague) or myself would be happy to make
contact with others doing similar work or thinking of setting a service up.

Subject: Clinical Librarian
I wonder if anyone can help? Here at the Bristol Royal infirmary we are
beginning to develop a clinical librarian service where a librarian attends
ward rounds, departmental meetings, etc fulfilling the information
requirements of all staff. Is there anyone out there who is doing this sort
of thing & would be willing to share experiences on how it's going?
I would be very grateful for any advice that anyone can give me.
Best wishes
