The following is one of two adverts which appeared in the Library
Association Appointments bulletin dated 9th February. The other is
for a Patient Health Information Officer which will be emailed

LIBRARIAN, ROTHERHAM HEALTH CARE LIBRARY
Local Authority Scale 5/6; pounds 15,210 - 18,372 (37 hr/week)
Based at Rotherham District General Hospital Health Care Library and
Information Service, you will contribute to the day to day management
and delivery of the service.
This is an exciting and demanding time for the Service which is
already participating in the Yorkshire Joint Healthcare Libraries
Service consortium and in the developing range of services provided
through the Trent Regional Library Unit.
You will be responsible for taking the lead in implementing and
developing our Heritage Library Management System, initially on the
Library network and later on the Trust and local health community
intra/extra nets.
You will also be involved in a new pilot scheme to provide knowledge
management and information services to primary care and in extending
health information services to patients and carers.
It is essential that you possess the following:
- A qualification in librarianship or information science
- Two years professional experience in a library setting
- A minimum of 12 months supervisory experience
- Experience of working with and/or implementing a computerised
library management system.
12 months professional experience in a health care or special library
setting would be desirable.
You should also possess the ability to work accurately and to
deadlines. You should be able to communicate clearly with library
users, colleagues and other bodies or persons who have an interest
in the service.
Duties will involve regular evening and Saturday work, for which
enhancements will be payable.
