LISU SEMINAR ~ SUMMER 2001 [Booking Form below]
Changing Scenarios: Changing Cultures: Changing Services ~ The Challenge
for Management
LISU, Loughborough University: Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th June 2001
Anyone contemplating the current state of information and library
management must marvel at the changes that have taken place over the last
decade or so. Technology has been the driver of much of that change in
terms of the range of information that has been made available, the level
of accessibility it has opened up and the scope for managing information
that it has provided. The results are some spectacular configurations of
information services delivery in places such as hybrid libraries. In
addition, clients whether as individuals or institutions have discovered a
new voice that is articulated through a demand for demonstrable
accountability, quality and efficiency. Here the outcomes are sharpened
responses to user needs allied to tangible demonstrations of best value and
enhanced impact with [very] scarce resources. The changes will not stop.
What will tomorrow look like; will we be able to afford it; and how will we
manage getting from now to then [and beyond]?
At LISU's Summer 2001 Seminar a gathering of specialists will share their
experiences and knowledge of planning for and managing change in all its
dimensions. Techniques which push the envelope of planning further, such as
scenario development will be explored and accounts of change management in
a range of institutions will be related.
