Ah, so I must come in this category! I remember some "old-timer"
Internet buffs getting very upset by people who did not make the proper
distinction between "the Internet" and "an internet", where the latter
term referred to any interconnected group of computer networks.
In the same way, they maintained that "the World Wide Web" was a proper
name, so that it, and derived terms such as "Web site" ought to have a
capital.
My old-fashioned library background (see AACR2) tells me that the
correct thing to do is to capitalise proper names and only proper names,
so I'll stick to "Web site" for the present!
