BL Inside has recently announced the availability of a credit/debit
card option for payment for articles ordered directly by individual
users. Sounds good, except that the "fine print" on the BL
Website states that:
"It should be noted that your organisation will be considered liable
for any outstanding debt resulting from a user choosing this option."

At MMU we would like to enable credit/debit card payment for our
users but are naturally concerned about finding ourselves
reponsible for their debts and wonder what the reaction has been in
other institutions.
Are you going ahead with the credit/debit card option? And, if so,
what measures will you have in place to monitor and control the
potential debt problem?
Another problem with the new option is that the Billing option is the
default, with users having to select Credit/Debit Card. Billing the
Library is a service we don't offer at MMU, so it would be preferable
if the Billing and Credit/Debit Card options could be completely
separate. It's not a serious problem, but will lead to unnecessary
confusion.
I've e-mailed BL Inside with my comments and concerns and will
feedback to this list. And would like to hear yours.

Mary Harrison
