Title:          Senior Library Assistant (Cataloguing)

The Information Services Department is looking for an
experienced cataloguer to join its Library and Media Services
cataloguing team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and
motivated person with appropriate cataloguing and
classification experience, preferably in an academic library,
inlcuding the use of AACR2 and MARC. Duties include
subject indexing, classification and cataloguing of all library
material using the Library's specialist thesauri and
classification schemes and responsibility for monitoring
cataloguing throughput and for library material processing.
You will also be expected to work regularly at one of the
Library's public service points and assist with routine
housekeeping to the Library's Unicorn management system.

You must be able to work accurately and methodically, be a
team player and have the ability to exercise initiative and
work independently. Experience of an automated library
system and good keyboard skills are essential. You will have
excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an
ability to respond to rapidly changing service developments,
with a genuine interest in contributing to the delivery of
quality services to the Institute's students and staff.
Experience of working in a customer service environment,
preferably in a library context, of staff supervision and of
other IT applications are desirable.
