The British Universities Film & Video Council's latest online service, the
Moving Image Gateway (MIG), offered online in test version from Friday 25th
May 2001 http://www.bufvc.ac.uk/gateway
This new Gateway carries some 400 descriptions of and links to websites
relating to moving images and sound and their use in higher and further
education. The sites are classified by academic discipline, some forty
subjects from Agriculture to Women's Studies, collected within the four main
categories of Arts & Humanities, Bio-Medical, Social Sciences and Science &
Technology. Sites are highlighted which deliver video or audio streams. The
underlying database for the Moving Image Gateway remains in a test phase,
with some adjustments yet to be made. More features will soon be added, as
well as many other entries, with the aim of building links to around 600
selected sites.
While in its test phase the MIG is on free accessible to all, but once
finalised it will be available for access by BUFVC members and .ac.uk
addresses only.
The MIG can be found at http://www.bufvc.ac.uk/gateway Further details of
BUFVC membership and other online assets delivered by the BUFVC can be
obtained via the home page on this site.
