As a current OLIB user, I am surprised to hear the negative feedback you received about OLIB. I've never had problems with navigability, and although technical problems do arise from time to time (as with any system!), I can't think of anything so major as to warrant the kind of response you listed. In general, I find OLIB well supported and reliable and the Web OPAC operates very successfully on our intranet.

Subject: Library management systems
I'd just like to thank the very many people who responded to my request foro
pinions on library management systems. This has been very useful.
What I didn't mention was that I have used Innopac and Unicorn (and, backi
n the day, Libertas). But it is always interesting to hear other people'sv
iews!
I give some highlights below, which may be of interest.
* Heritage: seven replies, nearly all very positive in terms of
reliability, ease of use and level of customer support. Two disadvantages:i
t does not support MARC format and there is no overnight batch processing.
* Unicorn: five replies, largely positive in terms of functionality, but
with some criticism (I think justified) of Sirsi's training, documentationa
nd Americanised terminology.
* OLIB: three people explicitly warned me against buying OLIB, citing
technical problems and lack of navigability.
* Millennium: little response on this one, but far and away the most
expensive system. The best OPAC I have seen.
