Manchester InforMation and Associated Services (MIMAS)
Two MIMAS Support Officers
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for two MIMAS
Support Officers. The persons appointed will join the team responsible for
the provision of frontline support to MIMAS users. MIMAS is a national data
centre run by Manchester Computing at the University of Manchester. MIMAS is
funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) to provide the UK
higher education, further education and research community with networked
access to key data and information resources to support teaching, learning
and research across a wide range of disciplines. For further information

Key duties include providing frontline user support and assisting with the
development of web based data and information services. Applicants should
have good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills (written
and verbal) together with excellent problem solving abilities. Experience in
using MS Windows based office software is essential. Experience in the
following is also desirable: use of web-based data and information services;
HTML and web authoring tools; developing web based support materials; and
providing user support in a service environment. Applicants should have an
honours degree or two years experience in an equivalent role.
These posts are available for 1 year in the first instance with the
possibility of extension. The salary will on ALC grade 1 (£16,775 -
£18,731).
