TEMPORARY LIBRARY ASSISTANT
GRADUATE TRAINEE
This is a one-year post, commencing on 1st September 2001, intended for
those
seeking to acquire library experience prior to undertaking a
postgraduate course in
library/information studies. The postholder will spend up to half
her/his time on counter
and other general duties common to the majority of library assistants.
The remainder of
her/his time will be spent working in two or more sections of a
relatively small but
friendly, dynamic and strongly IT-oriented general university library
with a national
reputation for excellence in customer service. A comprehensive induction
programme
will be provided with further training opportunities through the year.
No previous library experience is required but candidates should be
flexible, possess
good communication and customer care skills and have a basic IT literacy
with a
willingness to learn and use other IT applications. While this post is
intended primarily
for graduates, applicants from other educational backgrounds or pursuing
other routes
to a professional qualification will be considered.
Salary in the range #12,222 to #14,174 pa inc.
