Usual apologies for cross-posting.
A draft report on the feasibility of using the ONIX format in libraries has
now been produced - based on the questionnaires completed in January.
However, it has been decided to delay the final report until the
results/suggestions from the questionnaires have been discussed by a focus
group (comprising librarians from all sectors)I am, therefore, looking for
volunteers to join a focus group which will meet on THURSDAY, 7th JUNE at
the Library and Information Show at the NEC in Birmingham. I am not
expecting membership of the focus group to be onerous - we may decide at
the meeting that we need to meet again but it may not be necessary. Any
possible future role for the group can be decided at the meeting (eg:
contacting members by e-mail if any library-specific queries arise during
ONIX development). If you would like to join the group and are able to
attend the meeting please contact me ([log in to unmask]).
(It may be of interest that there is a seminar on ONIX scheduled at LIS on
the morning of 7th June - the focus group will meet in the afternoon.)
If anyone is interested in receiving a copy of the report (remembering that
it is NOT intended for publication) please contact me at the above e-mail
address and confirm if you are able to receive a .zip file (it makes it
easier to send).
Thanks for all your help - ONIX is certainly going to be important to the
book trade in the future.
