Thursday 28th June to Sunday 1st July 2001
This year's Conference is looking at the future of image management and the
effects that the Internet, digitisation, and virtualisation are having on
art libraries and the library community as a whole.
Jean Sykes from the British Library of Political & Economic Science, LSE is
the keynote speaker, and other speakers will include:
· Oliver Vicars-Harris from the Tate talking about Tate Insight,

question "Why digitise?"

banners

literature
· Alice Angus on Topologies, an initiative to commission public artworks
using visual, aural and tactile media.
· Jessica Crilly and Liz Lawes talking about the London Institute's i page
Contributions from ARLIS members include Doug Dodds' update on the ARLIS
Union List of Art, Architecture and Design Serials and an "Ask ARLIS"
session similar to the one that proved so popular last year.
Workshops will deal with:
· E-journals
· Interactive library tours
· Self-help networks
· Preparation of bids for projects
· Staff development
Having the East End of London as the location gives us the opportunity to
visit the Whitechapel Gallery, and the many contemporary galleries in
Hoxton. There will also be architectural tours of Spitalfields and the
London Docklands, and a special evening reception and dinner at the Geffrye
Museum and Herb Garden.
A booking form and conference programme were sent out in the March/April
2001 issue of the ARLIS News-Sheet. Booking forms may also be downloaded
