For the last two years, we have offered limited extended hours services staffed by 'regular' staff who have worked overtime on a voluntary basis. We are now planning to open until 8 pm every evening and from 12 noon until 4 pm throughout the vacations.
We would find it helpful to draw upon other people's experiences in this. How do other academic libraries provide extended hours services during vacations? Are all-year round staff used or are separate staff used, and if so what working patterns are used? How easy was it to recruit staff for vacations only?
We'd be grateful for any information.
Many thanks.
