Colleagues,
We are presently reviewing our student help in the Library. We presently
have 2 students (for 30 hours) providing IT support to our users. This
support includes; putting paper/toner in printers, first-line trouble
shooting and assistance with basic application queries. We have
approximately 400 PCs in the Library providing access to MS office
applications, the internet and various other network applications.
We would like to hear from other libraries how you provide this type of
support:
1. Do you use students? If not who provides this type of service?
2. How visible are they in the library, where are they located in
relation to other library services?
3. If sharing a space with another library service e.g. information
desk, how does this work? Is the desk split, etc.
Any other information about your experience would be greatly
appreciated.
