Colleagues

I came across this in another group, and having checked with Alistair, am
pleased to be able to pass it on. I apologise for the length of the email!

Usual apologies, also, if you receive this more than once.

Subject: Free image collection - Visit to AHDS for Curriculum champs

This email is about an opportunity to have a guided tour through a BIG
collection of copyright cleared images. It's a little long so here's a
break down of the contents - INTRO / RELEVANT SUBJECTS / IMAGE COLLECTIONS
AVAILABLE / IMAGE COLLECTIONS COMING ONLINE SOON / CONTACT & BOOKING
DETAILS.

INTRO: I mentioned to the list some time ago that I was organising a free
visit to the Art and Humanities Data Service in London on Weds 9th May.
This JISC funded collection of COPYRIGHT CLEARED IMAGES is now available
to FE
and they are keen to have our input on how we might use the material so
that the interface and access can be made easier.

RELEVANT SUBJECTS - teachers / lecturers in these areas could find it
valuable to attend Fine Art including painting, prints and drawings and
sculpture,
performance and digital art Design including industrial, product, fashion,
graphic, packaging and
interior Architecture including landscape design (but excluding building
construction) Applied Arts including textiles, ceramics, glass, metals,
jewellery,
furniture History and Theory of Art, Architecture and Design including
critical and
contextual studies Media as it relates to the visual arts including

When? Weds 9th May 2.00 - 4.00pm

Where? 75-79 York Rd, (8th Floor - but there's a lift!) SE1 7AW

Why? Three reasons - (i) for your subject specialists because the site is
big and a guided tour takes you down the avenues rather than the cul-de-sacs
(ii) for your planning because the site is expanding rapidly and you will
benefit from knowing what is coming online (iii) for the sector because the
AHDS genuinely want to know what the FE sector requirements are - what
imagery do we want? How do we want to be able to access/search the
collection? What are the keywords etc that we use which might differ from
HE-speak?

How? Places are free but limited. Please book via Alistair McNaught using
either email [log in to unmask] or by phoning 07801 612 458
