Dear all,
I've been asked by a dissertation student to find books/articles etc.
which discuss the psychological/sociological effects of growing up in a
deprived area, specifically the effects of tower block living from a
design point of view. How the size and scale of tower blocks overshadow
residents and what the emotional effects of this are.
I know this is somewhat confused request but this is the closest I can
get to describing what she is looking for. She originally asked me to
help her find material on 'Architectural aesthetics' but after a lengthy
discussion it turns out that she is a media studies student who is
producing a photography dissertation about the effects of growing up in
Devonport (which is considered a very deprived area of Plymouth, Devon).
She wants some documentary evidence to support her photographs and
personal feeling regarding this matter. Can anyone offer any advice. I
have tried various keyword searches on the following sites/databases
without much luck: BHI, ASSIA, ADAM, Design and Applied Arts Index.
Thanks, Steph.
