Invitation to submit details of Archive and Library research and case study
projects to Resource.
Resource: The Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries are currently
compiling an Education, Access, Audience development and Marketing
database. The database aims to collect details of those activities of
Archives and Libraries that focus on 5 related aspects of Archival/Library
work:
Education: Assistance in both formal education work with schools/colleges
and informal education work with children, adults and families. Activities
such as lifelong learning and distance learning are included.
Access: Work which makes Archives and Libraries more accessible to all user
groups. Projects aimed particularly at removing existing barriers to access
(physical, sensory, intellectual, cultural, attitudinal or financial).
Audience Development: Encouragement of greater use of Archives and
Libraries through the active targeting of particular groups, such as ethnic
minority communities, through tailored events.
Marketing: Market research involving users and/or non-users; customer care
work; marketing communications (promotion, publicity, leaflets, posters,
direct mail); evaluation work.
ICT: Projects demonstrating the application of information and
communications technologies (ICT), including Web sites, collection/records
management systems and multimedia displays.
If you have undertaken work that fits into any of these areas over the past
2 years or are planning to embark on any such work:
1. Where you feel that a new approach was taken.
2. That you feel others might learn from.
3. Or that you are simply proud of.
PLEASE TELL US ABOUT IT!
Here's how:
1. Via the Resource Web site
<http://www.resource.gov.uk/casestudies/caseform.html>, where you will find
an online form. Please complete this form and return it to Rachel Kerr at
Resource <[log in to unmask]>
2. By sending a blank e-mail message to Rachel Kerr
<[log in to unmask]> with the word "form" in the subject line.
This will automatically trigger a form to be sent to you.
3. By telephoning Helen Scaife, Team Assistant, on (020) 723 8717 and
requesting the form on a disk or a paper copy.
4. By replying to me and attaching any documentation (press releases,
project proposal documents etc) that you may have to enable me to construct
a database record of your project.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
