Aslib BIOSCIENCES GROUP
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & PHYLLIS EDWARDS MEMORIAL LECTURE
Aslib HQ, Staple Hall, Stonehouse Court, Houndsditch, London
2.00pm on Thursday 22nd March 2001
As in previous years the AGM will be kept as brief as possible and will be
followed by the Phyllis Edwards Memorial Lecture, the ABG's answer to the
Dimbleby Lecture. This year we are fortunate enough to have Graham Coult,
Editor of Managing Information to speak on The state of the strategies:
information policy and the biological sciences:
Phyllis Edwards suggested the formation of the Biosciences Group to support
members who were responsible for biological information. In this lecture, held
in her name, we will examine how coordinated is the strategy for the management
of biological information, and identify possible developments and improvements
which will benefit society as a whole through more effective management of
information and knowledge in this vital field. After the formal talk, the floor
will be opened up for discussion.
The afternoon will be rounded off with wine and nibbles, courtesy of the Group.
Those who have attended before will know that our AGMs are highly enjoyable
events and provide an excellent opportunity to renew old acquaintances and
establish new contacts. Space is fairly limited so please book early to avoid
disappointment (no charge).
