"And the future will happen" .
As the rate of technological change shows no signs of decreasing, the real
risk faced by the Library community is not that the third wave of change
smashes through us, it is that the third wave passes us by completely. The
purpose of this event is to enable Libraries to review information about
what the near future holds and the kinds of changes that will need to be
considered to enable them to develop their effectiveness and value into this
new century. The future will happen, the current concern is the part, if
any, the Library community will play in shaping that future.
Keith Trickey, lecturer at Liverpool Business School and trainer and
consultant with Sherrington Sanders
