Colleagues,
Apologies for cross posting
The UCRG (Northern Section) would like to invite colleagues to the
AGM which will be followed by an open meeting on "library &
information staff in the learning process".
Our first guest speakers are Moira Bent (Liaison Librarian,
University of Newcastle) and Christine Purcell (Campus Librarian,
University of Durham, Stockton Campus) who have been project leaders
of the LibLearn North East Programme.
LibLearn developed from EduLib North East, which used principles from
the JISC funded EduLib project to cascade training into the
region.
LibLearn workshops have been delivered across the region which
mix practical technique with basic theory of learning to try and help
library staff to put their role into context.
Our second speaker is Karen Newton (Senior Library Assistant for
Sunderland Libraries and Arts) who is currently the Chair of the
Affiliate Group of the Library Association. She will be looking at
the pressures upon library assistants to deliver increasingly complex
services in an environment which is constantly changing.
Further information about the LibLearn Project can be found at URL:
"http://www.ncl.ac.uk/library/liblearn.html" or in the Sconul
Newsletter, Issue no 19 (Spring 2000) pg. 27-28.
The date for the AGM and Open Meeting is Wednesday 14th March, 2001.
The AGM will begin at 2.15pm, followed by the Open Meeting at 2.30pm.
The venue is room 152, Robinson Library, Newcastle University.
This event is free of charge, and refreshments will be provided. If
colleagues are interested in attending, please contact either myself
or your local UCRG committee member. Member's details are on our
website located at URL "http://ucrg.dur.ac.uk".
An agenda for the AGM will be posted out to all UCRG members in the
Northen Region.
Regards,
Jackie
