Oxford University Library Services (OULS) is establishing
the Oxford Digital Library (ODL) as a new core service.
With the digital conversion process as an integral
component for ODL, the rich complexity and diversity of
the Oxford collections and their often unique historical
significance demands a post-holder with substantial
experience in various digital imaging techniques.
The ODL Digital Imaging Adviser will be a member of a new
service team reporting directly to the Head of Oxford
Digital Library. S/he will support digital production and
workflow for the whole range of still image capture
according to internationally recognized standards for
conversion projects in libraries. The post-holder will
provide advice to academics and researchers of Oxford
University at a high level, in order to ensure common
standards and best practices for digital imaging for
Oxford University Libraries and ODL projects.
Candidates should be educated to degree level or
equivalent and have rich practical experience and a high
level of communication skills.

Oxford University Library Services (OULS) is establishing the Oxford
Digital Library (ODL) as a new core service. It is responsible for
researching, developing, and implementing the latest advances in digital
library technology within the University. The creation and utilization of
metadata on various levels is fundamental to all online accessible digital
resource. This position demands a post-holder with the ability to take on
a strategic role within ODL by providing advice and training to academics
and researchers to ensure that common standards and best practices for
metadata capture for Oxford University Libraries and ODL Projects are
achieved.
The ODL Metadata Services Coordinator will be a member of
a new service team reporting directly to the Head of
Oxford Digital Library. S/he will advise, liase,
co-ordinate and ensure quality assurance and validation
of metadata in the ongoing ODL projects, so that the
capture of metadata and full text is according to ODL
standards.
The post-holder will be responsible for, amongst other
tasks, the maintenance of metadata component of ODL
system, including maintaining indexes, introducing
extensions and correcting errors.
Candidates should be educated to degree level or
equivalent and have strong and proven experience,
leadership skills and a high level of communication
skills.
