We shall soon open our completed LRC and i would be interested
to hear from any staff working in a similar Learning Resource
Centre. Initially there will be 300 PC's and 6 networked printers.
This campus has approx 13,000 students with a high proportion of
part-time students. We operate a library information help desk and
have some IT help at present within core hours. Our opening hours
are 9am-10pm Mon-Fri and Sat 10am-5pm.I am sure when we are
fully operational demand for more access will grow probably with
additional Sunday opening. Although we are converged with IT staff
they are in a different part of the building. I would like to adopt "best
practise" re. dealing with IT queries and troubleshooting throughout
our opening hours. Do you employ library or IT staff to do this ?If so
how many and what hours do they work and who recruits them
Library or IT division? Any advice would be gratefully received
including pitfalls to avoid.
many thanks
