We have a general reference collection and several subject
reference collections.
When relegating unique reference items to our
publically-accessible Basement store or to our closed-access
Stack, I have left the items as reference. A query has now been
raised about this policy on the grounds that moving the items to
stores for lesser-used materials means that they should be made
lending. (When monograph items are relegated because they have
been replaced by newer editions, eg dictionaries, these *are*
made lending, as thought necessary).
We also have the problem of annual items, such as Whitakers, and
whether to make the whole run reference only, or only the
current volume.
Any thoughts, comments would be welcomed.
Thanks.
