PROJECT ARCHIVIST - CASBAH PROJECT - Ref: 5901-rslp
5 month contract, £19,246 per annum, incl. LW. (Full or part-time.)
Would you like to work on an acclaimed national research project ?
The CASBAH Project has an immediate need for a creative and enthusiastic
Archivist to join our small and committed project team.
CASBAH is a pioneering demonstrator project funded by the research Support
Libraries Programme that is researching and surveying national research
resources for Caribbean studies and the history of Black and Asian peoples
in Britain. The project is being led by the Institute of Commonwealth
Studies and involves a consortia of 15 partner institutions including the
British Library and the Public Record Office.
This key role will involve the collation and analysis of data collected from
regional archive surveys and the creation of collection-level descriptions
according to ISAD(G), as well as contributing to other project activities.
Applicants will be graduates with a professional qualification in archives
administration or equivalent, and have experience of cataloguing archives,
a good understanding of current archival standards and developments, as well
as good IT skills and the ability to organise their own work. Experience of
using MS Access or of database development would be desirable. Knowledge of,
or an interest in any of the relevant subject areas would be an advantage.
