a) Additions to PsycINFO Agreement
a) Additions to PsycINFO Agreement
----------------------------------
PsycINFO is now available under the CHEST/APA Agreement for Academic
Institutions in the Republic of Ireland, UK Research Councils, Further
Education Institutions, Hospital Trusts and CHEST Associated Sites.
The Agreement negotiated by CHEST on behalf of the JISC is specifically
for UK Higher Education Institutions.
However, CHEST has negotiated with APA (the American Psychological
Society) for the provision on a site licence basis for other sectors of
the community. Service provision on a full site license basis will be
provided by CSA and OCLC so Institutions may choose which provider they
use.
Athens authentication is available for the services from both CSA and
OCLC.
The Agreement period runs in parallel with the Agreement for UK Higher
Education, from 1st August to 31st July each year until 31st July 2005.
Pricing is split into two elements, a data fee and a service provision
fee. The data fee will be invoiced by and payable to EduServ but the
service provision fee will be invoiced by and payable to the chosen
service provider. Service Provider may be changed on the anniversary
date of the agreement provided both the current Service Provider and
CHEST have been notified 3 months in advance of the anniversary date.
Annual Data fee to which VAT at the prevailing rate will be added:
Further Education Institutions: £600.00
Research Councils: £4,000.00
Academic Institutions in the Republic of Ireland: £4,850.00
Hospital Trusts (NHS Trusts and Health Authority Trusts): £4,850.00
CHEST Associated Sites: £4,850.00
Annual Service Provision fee for all above sectors:
CSA *: £1,000.00
OCLC **: Per FTE: £0.23
* Invoicing will be directly from the U.S. Institutions may be required
to self-account for VAT.
** Pricing from OCLC is based on the numbers of Full Time Equivalents.
Information from OCLC states: "This factors in part-time students as
well as faculty and graduate students to arrive at a figure that is
supposed to convey a number for full-time users. But there is a
difference between full-time equivalents and full-time enrolment. They
would indeed vary." The Full Time Enrolment figure tends to be higher
since students can enrol on a number of "programmes of study".
Clarification for FTEs in relation to the Health Service and to Research
Councils will follow as soon as it is available.
All forms and other details from CSA and OCLC (including additional
facilities provided) are available on the CHEST Web pages at
http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/psycinfo-additional/
Service provision from other vendors:
PsycINFO is available from Ovid on the BioMed server for the sectors
listed above. However, pricing will be outside the CHEST/APA Agreement
and will be based on the number of concurrent users required.
Subscriptions for the PsycINFO database via the BioMed server may be
ordered by using the order form available from
http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/biomed/additional.html after contacting
Ovid for pricing. (PsycINFO appears almost at the end of the order
form.)
