EARLY PRINTED BOOKS PROJECT
TEMPORARY PROJECT MANAGER (for one year in the first instance)

Oxford University Library Services is seeking to appoint a new Project
Manager for the Early Printed Books Project. Begun in 1995, this project is
working to catalogue early printed books in Oxford Libraries outside the
Bodleian. Following the award of a grant from the Research Support
Libraries Programme, the Project currently employs a team of eight
cataloguers who work in various locations. The Project Manager will be
based in the New Bodleian Library, but will be required to visit individual
team members on a regular basis. The Project has funding until October 2002.
The successful candidate should have a good degree and appropriate
professional qualifica-tions, with some experience of project management
and staff supervision. Candidates must have experience of rare book
cataloguing. Knowledge of AACR2/MARC cataloguing and familiarity with
Windows 95/2000 and Microsoft Office 95/2000 is essential. Experience in
the use of online databases (RLIN/OCLC), grounding in Latin or Greek, and
one modern lan-guage would be advantageous. Experience of fundraising and
writing project proposals is highly desirable. For an informal discussion
