Rachel,
We have recently faced this problem and have come up with the
following solution:
Where a CD comes with a book we catalogue the item as we
would a book but put a note in the notes field of the MARC record
saying 'Includes CD-ROM (title)'.
Previous to this we catalogued them separately and stored the
CD's behaind the issue desk - which, as with you, became too
much!
We add a 'do not desensitize' sticker to avoid wiping the CD when
issued to student and put through the security system.
The CD's are shelved with the book (if there is no pocket in the
book we manufacture one) and the book and CD are issued as a
single item.
Hope this helps, Rachel Johnson (UCW)

separate item). We don't have time to assess their usefulness but neither would I like to throw t

ewel cases in Dewey order, "loose" in a CD box. i.e. not in the "slot-in" kind as new ones have to
be interfiled in the correct Dewey order and it would be too much trouble with the slot-in kind.
