Assistant Librarians
(Permanent)
We are seeking enthusiastic librarians with good communication, interpersonal and teamworking skills to work in our Acquisitions, Reader Services and Systems and Cataloguing sections. All our Assistant Librarians also work on the busy Library Enquiry Desk on a rota basis. In order to promote career development, job rotation is actively encouraged and successful candidates will need to demonstrate their flexibility. Experience of online and CD-ROM searching and knowledge of Parliamentary information would be an advantage, though training will be given. The Library has an electronic enquiry logging system, uses Dynix for acquisitions, cataloguing and circulation and Swets Blackwell Serials Manager for serials control. We offer an approved training programme towards Associateship of the Library Association.
Applicants must have a recognised professional qualification in librarianship or information science. We welcome applications from job-sharers.
Salary scale £16,000 - £24,319 (pay award pending from 1 August 2001). Starting salary, subject to relevant qualifications and experience, up to a maximum of £21,000 per year. Appointments will be made on a permanent basis.
Graduate Trainee Librarians
(1 Year Fixed Term)
We are seeking enthusiastic Graduate Trainee Librarians to work in our Acquisitions and Reader Services sections. Good communication, interpersonal and teamworking skills are required.
Applicants must be graduates, in any discipline, intending to follow a postgraduate library or information studies course.
Salary: £16,000 per annum (pay award pending). Appointments will be made on a 1 year fixed term contract with the possibility of extension.
