JSTOR ECOLOGY & BOTANY COLLECTION
JSTOR, MIMAS and the JISC are very pleased to announce the
release today of the Ecology & Botany Collection, JSTOR's
third archival collection of scholarly journals, to
institutions in the UK. The collection, totaling 29 journals
and over one million pages, contains some of the most
essential journals published in the environmental sciences.
Many publications, such as American Naturalist and
International Journal of Plant Sciences, extend back into
the 19th Century. Ecologists, conservationists and scholars
in related fields will now be able to research journal
literature in the environmental sciences going back more
than 130 years. Access to this archive is made possible
through a special collaborative relationship between JSTOR
and the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC).
JSTOR has created this collection in cooperation with the Ecological
Society of America (ESA), a not-for-profit organisation whose members
are conducting research, teaching, and working to provide the
ecological knowledge needed to solve environmental problems. We are
pleased to have had the support of the ESA in the creation and
production of this collection. Thanks to funds that have been made
available to the ESA from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that helped
cover production costs, JSTOR has been able to reduce significantly
the fees for this collection.
You may view the complete list of titles in the Ecology & Botany
Collection on our web site at
http://uk.jstor.org/about/ecobot.list.html. There are six titles
common to both the Arts & Sciences I and the Ecology & Botany
Collections.
Participation fees and information for the Ecology & Botany
Collection for UK participants are available on the JSTOR web site at
http://uk.jstor.org/about/uk_fees.html. The Ecology & Botany
participation fees are reduced for institutions already participating
in Arts & Sciences I.
We welcome your comments and questions.
Regards,
