The term 'joined-up' has been applied to numerous developments in Higher and
Further Education over the past few years. The main focus of these
initiatives usually involves the deployment and support of learning
technologies. However, what is often forgotten is that to fully bear fruit
and become embedded in the operations of an institution, the 'joined-up'
initiatives need to be strategically joined-up themselves.
This workshop will promote discussion on the 'joined-up' agenda affecting
the adoption and use of learning technologies, and the strategies for
co-ordinating and integrating them, based on the practical experiences of
several diverse institutions. The workshop will particularly focus on the
Roundtable Methodology developed by the AAHE TLTG (American Association for
Higher Education Teaching, Learning and Technology Group) as evaluated in
the JISC-funded Scottish-Kent consortium's Roundtable and Flashlight
project. The main elements of the workshop will be:
* Bringing People Together for institutional change
* Bringing Systems Together for systems integration
* Bringing Technology and People Together through training
* Bringing Institutions Together - HE and FE Co-operation
The workshop will be suitable for academic and support staff (including IT,
Library, Learning Resource Staff, ILT Champions, Learning Technologists and
Management Information Systems) and those involved with the management,
planning and implementation of learning technologies.
