LIBRARY ASSISTANT (Technical Services)
The Information Services Department of the Institute of Education requires a
library assistant to be a member of its Library and Media Services
cataloguing team. The post includes the cataloguing of all categories of
library material, as well as the processing of materials for shelf display
and circulation. The post holder will also assist with a full range of
support services for staff and students. S/he will be expected to work
regularly at one of the Library’s public service points.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person who must be able to
work accurately and methodically. Applicants must be team workers with the
ability to work independently and show initiative. You will have experience
of working in a customer service environment, excellent interpersonal and
communication skills and an ability to respond to rapidly changing service
developments. Flexibility and adaptability, and a genuine interest in
contributing to the delivery of quality services to the Institute’s students
and staff are key requirements. Excellent keyboard and IT skills, including
familiarity with Windows, are also required. Experience of working in a
library and of using an automated library system are desirable, and
appropriate cataloguing experience, including the use of AACR and MARC,
would be an advantage.
Salary will be in the range of £14,535 to £16,490 inclusive.
