Topic: The Citizen Portal
UK online is a government campaign to get people, businesses and
government itself online. The Citizen Portal (www.ukonline.gov.uk) is
intended to be the preferred means of access to government services by
individual citizens, particularly where information and interrelated
services come from a number of government departments. In July this year,
open.gov services are moving to the Citizen Portal.
Roger Burke-Hamilton will outline what UK online has to offer and discuss
the thinking behind the initiative. He will also indicate what we might
expect the service to provide in the future.
Alan Pawsey will consider the implications of opening up access to
government information. He will describe the new "Click-Use" Crown
copyright licensing regime and the Government Information Asset Register
(IAR).
Free light refreshment afterwards.
