Head of e-Strategy and Development
An opportunity has arisen to join this major research
Library in a key strategic role. You will require dynamism
and initiative to lead in the development of the Library's e-
strategy. You will work alongside other senior managers
in this key area as well as contribute to the Library's
overall strategy and its supporting policy and service
framework. The post also holds management
responsibility for the Systems and Collection
Management Services Teams.
You will be of graduate calibre with a
postgraduate/professional qualification and substantial
managerial experience in an academic/research library.
Your understanding of the digital library and the HE
environment and culture will be excellent, and ideally you
will be experienced in writing project proposals and
managing their implementation. You will be a proven
leader and motivator of staff, committed to progressive
management practices.
Grade: Senior Library 5 (£33,485 - £37,842).

Systems Team
Assistant Systems Librarian (part-time)
Working as a member of the Library Systems Team, you
will contribute to the provision and support of IT systems
and services for the University Library. You will be
expected to combine support for one or more of the major
installed platforms with collaborative and developmental
work on relevant projects, according to your specific
background and expertise.
You will be a graduate or equivalent, preferably in
librarianship or computer science or with substantial
relevant experience and should be familiar with one or
more of the following: Unix (especially Solaris), Windows
NT, HTML/Web authoring, Novell Neware 5, library
management systems. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills are essential, along with a self-
motivated and flexible approach. Project management
skills would be desirable, as would previous experience
in an academic library or with library systems.
Grade: Senior Library 1 or 2 (£16,775 - £25,213 pro rata)
according to qualifications and experience.
Hours: 50% fte. Some flexibility over the arrangement of
hours will be possible.
