UNIVERSITY OF LONDON LIBRARY
Senior Library Assistant (CRA3/4)
Bibliographic Services/Project Cataloguer
A permanent superannuable opportunity has arisen in the Bibliographic
Services Section of the University Library, seconded initially to work on
the RSLP funded ENSEMBLE Project to catalogue Music Scores.
>From time to time, there may be opportunities to assist the Bibliographic
Services Section with mainstream cataloguing work outside the immediate
scope of the projects and, at the termination of the current RSLP Funded
projects in July 2002, it is envisaged that the appointee will move to
working primarily in the Bibliographic Services Section.
Together with practical experience of on-line cataloguing, you will have
proven experience or have received training in MARC, AACR2 and assigning
Library of Congress Subject Headings. The ability to work to targets,
without close supervision, and combine speed of work with attention to
detail and accuracy is essential. Some basic knowledge of music is
essential for the project work, and knowledge of music cataloguing would be
a distinct advantage, as would at least one European language other than
English.
An appointment will be made in the CRA3-4 range, according to ability and
experience.
Starting salary in the range £14,174 - £18,268 (incl. L.A.)
