Dear colleagues,
I am currently working on a final dissertation for the MA in Information
Management at the University of Brighton. My research topic is Section 28
of the Local Government Act 1988. I am focusing on it as a piece of
information policy, on the response of the profession as a whole
(particularly the role of the LA) and the impact of the legislation on the
work of librarians and information professionals.
I am seeking information professionals who are willing to take part in an
oral history interview to share their experiences relating to Section 28.
Were you involved in campaigns against the section? How did these relate to
your professional role?
What are your views of the response of the LA to Section 28?
Has Section 28 ever been mentioned in your workplace? Do you have a tale to
tell (large or small) about the impact of Section 28 on information work?
Please contact me for further details. All replies in strict confidence.
