FRIENDS IN BUSINESS: a conference on researching the Quaker
contribution to the Industrial Revolution

Organised by the Yorkshire Quaker Heritage Project, this is
the third in a series of conferences which will take place
during the course of the project. It is aimed at
researchers in the field of Quaker history, and of British
economic history, as well as local historians, local
Friends, and archivists/special collections librarians.
The conference will focus on the contribution made by
Friends to the development of industrial capitalism in
Britain, with case studies of the Pease family of
Darlington and the Reckitt family of Hull, and will give
advice on biographical, archival and printed sources
available for research in this area.
