CHILDE network project
We are looking for partners!
Do you have a historical children's book collection?
Do wish you could do more with the collection?
foster links with other collections?
exchange expertise and information?
increase your profile on the European scene?
Buckinghamshire County Library Service is in the process of co-ordinating
a bid to the European Commission Culture 2000 Programme. If successful
this will establish a European Network of historical children's book
collections that will build on the work currently being undertaken by
the CHILDE project. The year long, EU funded CHILDE initiative, which
culminates in October 2001, entails the creation of a web site dedicated
to historical children's book collections across Europe
(www.bookchilde.org)
The CHILDE partners are:
Buckinghamshire County Library Service, UK
Dublin City Public Libraries, Ireland
Institut fur Jugendbuchforschung, Frankfurt, Germany
International Youth Library, Munich, Germany
Koninklijke Bibliotheek, The Hague, The Netherlands
La Baracca: Testoni Ragazzi, Bologna, Italy
Wandsworth Borough Council, London, UK
An opportunity now exists to establish this European Network for
organisations and individuals who own, or manage, historical children's
book collections. Funding from the European Commission would pay for:
A full time secretariat
A regular newsletter
The development and maintenance of the CHILDE web site
Publicity and promotion
A programme of staff exchanges between partner organisations
A publication programme
Transnational conferences
A programme for sharing best practice between partner organisations
Would you like to be a partner in this unique venture?
The bid will be developed before the end of April 2001. If you would like
