Our staff are expressing concerns about the introduction of evac
chairs for disabled users in the event of fire.
They're worried about the physical aspects of handling the
chairs and the moral dilemma of feeling obliged to perhaps go to
a disabled user when prudence would dictate that they go
immediately out of the Library.
I'd be grateful if anyone with responsibilities for fire
procedures/disables users, working in a building where evac
chairs are in use, would be willing to contact me directly and
discuss problems and solutions.
Thanks.
