Our ISP (Nextra-CIX) uses a service called Brightmail
(http://www.brightmail.com/).
It works at the mail server level and any suspect spam is transferred
to a holding area where you can view and delete them or just leave
them (they are automatically deleted after 30 days if you do nothing).
Brightmail uses a series of mailboxes and email addresses to "attract"
spam so it is usually pretty quick in picking up new variants, but our
ISP also provides an option for reporting any spam that slips through.
So far, we have been very impressed with the service as it stops about
99 per cent of spam here.
There used to be a free version for individuals but that has now been
discontinued. There are no prices on the Brightmail Web site (a case
of how long is a piece of string I suspect!) but I think it is worth
investigating further by filling in the form on their Web site.
Regards
Karen
