We have developed a library component that is now being taught into several
of the subjects on campus. We have both lecture and tutorial delivery
times. All our lecturers are now requesting that we make the lectures more
"interactive". They feel that if the students are actively taking part,
rather than just listening then their retention is better. The areas that
we are teaching are: defining topic, keywords, truncation, boolean,
catalogue, journal databases and internet. We are having some thought block
on activties that are quick and easy with lecture groups of 50-100
students. One possible was giving them all a sticker with a keyword on and
asking them to gather in groups of similar keywords, to try and get across
the concept of synoyms.
The point of this email is... Has anyone else tried to include this type of
activity? And can anyone suggest any activities that we could use?
