Try Synchroneyes. We use it here. But I confess that we prefer to use the
SmartBoard (electronic whiteboard) for demonstrating.
synchroneyes works very effectively in terms of locking student pcs. It also
allows you to put your screen onto theirs, but it tends to load a little
more slowly than most of us would like.
If you want anymore details, let me know and I can put you in touch with the
person who ordered it from here.

Subject: Software to control pcs whilst teaching
Dear Colleagues
Does anybody use software in their pc teaching rooms that
enables the teacher to control all of the pcs in the room? I am
interested in a system which would ( as a minimum) enable the
teacher to prevent the students from using their pcs whilst the
teacher wants their attention.
Many thanks for your help
Martin.
