Has anyone seen the details of the annual NHS
Information Authority Conference, 26-27 November 2001
International Convention Centre, Birmingham? It struck
me that they are obviously still a long way from a
joined-up approach to things, judging by their list of
who should attend.
"Who should attend
Chief Executives, Medical Directors, Clinical
Directors, Public Health Directors, General
Practitioners, Clinical Governance Managers, Clinical
Risk & Clinical Effectiveness Managers, Finance
Directors, Business/ Service Managers, IT Managers,
Regional Directors of Information, Professional
Bodies, Academic Institutes and Post Graduates, LIS
Managers, Patient Groups, Charities."
And the Knowledge, Library etc staff?
Given that one of the aims of the conference is to
"allow stakeholders to participate in the future
strategic development of NHS Information Authority
services" and noticing that that the sessions include:
"What knowledge management services do the NHS and
public require over the next decade? Consider
scenarios such as delivering a service to a patient
whose first language is not English."
"12.00 - 13.00 Scene setting - A report from the NHSIA
on current thinking and work being undertaken on
access to a networked NHS, knowledge management and
know-how, NeLH, professional portals, links with NHS
Direct Walk in Centres, NHS.UK and education"
why are a group of staff not seen as contributors to
the future development of knowledge tools that those
same staff will support and utilise and enable others
to use?
Thought for the day!
