Historical GIS at the European Social Science History Conference
Location: Netherlands
Call for Papers Deadline: 2001-03-01
On 27 February - 2 March 2002 the fourth European Social Science History
Conference will take place in The Hague, the Netherlands. The ESSHC brings
together scholars interested in explaining historical phenomena using the
methods of the social sciences. The conference is characterized by a lively
exchange in many small groups, rather than by formal plenary sessions. The
Conference is organised in a large number of networks which
cover a certain topic (including Historical Geography and Quantitative
Methods).
I have agreed with the co-ordinators of the Quantitative Methods Network,
in consultation with the co-ordinator of the Historical Geography Network,
to organise ONE OR MORE SESSIONS on historical applications of GIS. My hope
is that we can assemble at least one session on Spatial Frameworks for the
European Past, drawing on work presented at the workshop meeting in
Florence last June, plus another session of submitted papers.
Further information on the ESSHC is available from the conference web site at:
http://www.iisg.nl/esshc
If you want to propose a complete session or a stand-alone paper, you can
do this via the conference web site, but if you would like to propose a
paper for one of the suggested sessions on historical GIS please reply to
me (and use this address):
mailto:[log in to unmask]
Please provide the full names, postal and e-mail addresses, and telephone
numbers for ALL paper authors, plus a title and an abstract of 1-200
words. PLEASE REPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
